Hope
Students seeking a degree from a Georgia public college, university, or technical school will receive the cost of tuition, book allowance (up to $100), and mandatory fees not covered by Pell or other federal grants. Students seeking a degree from a private college or university in Georgia can receive, in addition to the $1,045 Tuition Equalization Grant, a grant of $3000. In order to be eligible for the HOPE Scholarship, a student must:
1. Graduate from a Georgia high school on or after 1993 and live in Georgia for the full year prior to graduation.
2. Maintain a minimum numeric average of 80 in the core courses of a college prep curriculum, or maintain a minimum numeric average of 85 in the core courses of a career/technology curriculum.
3. Attend a Georgia public college, university, or technical school offering a degree program.
GA High School Graduation Exams
Students must pass all five sections of the Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT) in order to receive a diploma. Students who complete graduation requirements but fail to successfully complete all of the graduation tests will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance. Students must earn a high school diploma or an equivalency diploma (GED) before entering the University System of Georgia.
